The Westwood Basketball Association (WBA) is pleased to announce the continuation of our Referee Training program for the upcoming 2016/2017 In-town basketball season.
This course is made available through the WBA for those students, 8th grade and above, that are interested in becoming officials for the WBA. The course will cover: basic rules, positioning, mechanics and game management. You need to complete and pass a written and performance test in order to be considered as an official for the upcoming WBA In-Town season.
We are incorporating some changes from last year and implementing new policy to the Training Program and scheduling process:
1. We will be enrolling fewer officials this year to allow more work opportunities, so register early for the training. Registration closes Nov 10th
2. All participants will be required to participate in training on November 12th OR November 27th
3. Scheduling for the In-Town season will be done on a rolling two week basis. It will be the responsibility of the refs to find suitable replacements if unable to work in the assigned slot. Contact information will be provided to do such.
4. All officials will be paid at the same $14/game rate, per the standard WBA payment process.
